Planning Your Visit
Getting Here
We are located at 2439 Dartt Hill Rd in Bethel VT.
Driving
You can find reliable directions on Google Maps, but you should take care to dowload the the map before you leave the highway. Cell phone service can be spotty. Property map with parking instructions can be found here.
Flying
The closest airport is Burlington International Airport (BTV) in South Burlington, VT. It's a small regional airport, a pleasant 1 hr 15 minute drive to Heart's Hill.
An alternative option is to fly into Boston's Logan Airport (BOS) which has many more flights, but is a slighly more chaotic 2 hr 30 minute drive to Heart's Hill.
Train
The Amtrak Vermonter line stops in Randolph, VT (RPH) just 15 minutes from Heart's Hill. There is daily service stopping at points between Washington, DC and St. Albans, VT.
Staying Here
The main house at Heart's Hill has several well-appointed guest rooms. The barn at Heart's Hill includes a rustic sleeping loft which can accommodate several visitors who are able to climb ladders. In addition, there are plenty of places to camp around the property.
For those wishing to stay off-grounds there are a handfull of inns and B&B's the the greater Bethel area. We can recommend the following:
- The Huntington House Inn - Rochester (15 minute drive)
- The Stable Inn - Rochester (15 minute drive)
- Clear River Inn - Pittsfield (20 minute drive)
There is also The Views at Music Mountain, an AirBnB 2 minutes away in Stockbridge that sleeps 15.
Things to Do in the Area
Outdoor Adventure
Heart's Hill maintains seven acres of easy walking trails. You can find a trail map here.
In summertime there are plenty of opportunities for swimming and tubing in the White River. We can recommend Peavine Park or Twin Bridges for swimming.
During all seasons, the Ridgeline Outdoor Collective maintains a series of multi-use trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and skiing. Heart's Hill also has close access to the Long Trail off of Rt. 73 where there are several challenging hikes (but not so challenging that a basset hound can't do it in the middle of winter).
Eating & Drinking
For beer enthusiasts, we recommend our two most local breweries, Bent Hill Brewery which has a vegetarian kitchen and beautiful views, and Brocklebank Craft Brewing that has live music and food trucks on the weekends.
